Dazzling Delusions

Tomorrow will not reflect the dazzling delusion.
The beautiful world that your words had spun

Words weaved into blankets
Now used as we lay in our caskets

Your lips let secrets slip
That my ears drink with greed
Secrets turned promises that you could never keep.
But there I lay
drugged by your lies
All consumed by the high
Just waiting for the paintings in my mind to miraculously materialize.

All the while, all my body did was cry

Shhh, don’t you mind

You said the magic words, a spell I learned by heart.
And I repeated it every night when I was left alone in the dark.
